Marlin was a typesetter for the Vancouver sun and The Province but also was a poet, author. 2 NOTE In 1941 Marlin and his father established a newspaper in Ashern, Manitoba called the Interlake Municipal Observer, which in 1943 was moved to Lundar, Manitoba and in 1944 Marlin took over and continued until 1960.

2 NOTE Wrote and published a book called Nyjar Rúnir ( New Runes) 1978 and was printed in Iceland. While in Iceland was presented to the Presedent of Iceland, Dr. Kristjan Eldjarnand had lunch with the Bishop of Iceland Sigurbjorn Einarsson and his wife.

Moved to Winnipeg and started building homes with his Father and brothers Parmes and Emil. They also had a window mfg. shop on Elice ave.(at Lipton Street). At that time Parmes went into plumbing.

In the depression years Marlin, Emil and their father (Gisli) established a print shop, called the Northern Press, and published Icelandic periodicals. DAGRENNING (Dawn) which came out for 9 years.

 

As the depression bottomed out the family (Marlin and his parents moved to Vidir with some of the printing equipment. Here Marlin built a house for his parents and also worked at building the new school in Vidir. Then he went out to Lake Manitoba, at Oakview, Hayland and Vogar and built some homes for some farmers there, one of which we (Linden and Janet) live in today. 1 RESI
